Principle in Action

Finding Thabo is a hybrid, interactive game designed to connect early learning themes to children’s lived experiences. By embedding learning in familiar South African scenes and prompting learners with questions rooted in everyday experiences and emotions, the game helps children build connections between new concepts and their existing understanding. Parents or teachers access the instruction through the digital app and guide learners to complete tasks using the physical storybook. For example, when learning colors, learners are asked to identify yellow objects in the bedroom picture, such as books under bed and shoes.
